Department for physics of semiconductors is the largest institute’s departments. The department includes 4 laboratories. The main directions of the department are the physical basis for the development of near-IR silicon optoelectronics and the studing of terahertz range using semiconductor nanostructures. A unique complex of equipment has been formed, on which experimental studies of optical phenomena in semiconductor nanostructures in the IR and terahertz range are conducted. A special place in the department is occupied by doctors of sciences, whose work has received wide international recognition in the fields of nonlinear electrodynamics of metamaterials, inverse problems of physical diagnostics, high-frequency properties of semiconductor superlattices, probe microwave microscopy.
